Its sole purpose is to wirelessly transmit real-time tire pressure data to the vehicle's onboard computer. The primary consumable nature of these sensors lies in their internal battery, which has a finite life (typically 5 to 10 years). When the battery dies, the entire sensor must be replaced, and often reprogrammed, to ensure the safety system remains functional.
